While the world was ob­sess­ing over Nike’s self-lac­ing shoes, ShiftWear was cook­ing up th­ese app-con­trolled sneak­ers with bend­able, Full HD colour dis­plays on each foot. Via the ShiftWear com­pan­ion app you can choose a de­sign from the image bank, tap to send it to the shoe, then watch the de­sign ap­pear on the train­ers. You can also upload and use pho­tos from your smart­phone’s gallery.


The ShiftWear Sneak­ers fea­ture a built-in ac­celerom­e­ter and gy­ro­scope, en­abling you to also trig­ger a change in de­sign by jump­ing or danc­ing – build a playlist of im­ages on the app be­fore­hand to max­imise this fea­ture. The shoes com­mu­ni­cate with the app via Blue­tooth and Wi-Fi, and can be charged wire­lessly via their charg­ing pad. You can also gen­er­ate ex­tra charge sim­ply by walk­ing.


Th­ese sneak­ers are wa­ter­proof, stain-, oil- and dirt-re­sis­tant, and built with a flex­i­ble, durable sole. When pre-or­der­ing, you can choose be­tween low-, mid- and hi-top ver­sions. In the ShiftWear mar­ket­place (ac­ces­si­ble via the app), you can join a grow­ing com­mu­nity of fans to buy, share and sell orig­i­nal de­signs for th­ese shoes. At $660 a pair, you could prob­a­bly do with mak­ing some cash back.
