WALKING PALETTE

While the world was obsessing over Nike’s self-lacing shoes, ShiftWear was cooking up these app-controlled sneakers with bendable, Full HD colour displays on each foot. Via the ShiftWear companion app you can choose a design from the image bank, tap to send it to the shoe, then watch the design appear on the trainers. You can also upload and use photos from your smartphone’s gallery.

DANCE AND DESIGN

The ShiftWear Sneakers feature a built-in accelerometer and gyroscope, enabling you to also trigger a change in design by jumping or dancing – build a playlist of images on the app beforehand to maximise this feature. The shoes communicate with the app via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, and can be charged wirelessly via their charging pad. You can also generate extra charge simply by walking.

JOIN THE RESISTANCE

These sneakers are waterproof, stain-, oil- and dirt-resistant, and built with a flexible, durable sole. When pre-ordering, you can choose between low-, mid- and hi-top versions. In the ShiftWear marketplace (accessible via the app), you can join a growing community of fans to buy, share and sell original designs for these shoes. At $660 a pair, you could probably do with making some cash back.
