BUILD YOUR NEST UTOPIA

The Nest app is key to managing your smart home setup, so let’s find out how to get started

-

ADD DEVICES

Before adding Nest products in the home, create an account and sign in. Simply tap the button on the main screen to add a new device, follow the set-up procedure and, once it’s completed, that device will appear on the main screen. To add subsequent devices, tap the cog in the top-right corner and tap Add product.

CONNECT FAMILY

If you have other people living at home, get them connected too. This will enable them to access the devices and more. Go to the settings cog from the Home screen and tap Family from the menu. To add people, tap Add a Family Member and send an invitation via contact info or email address.

MANAGE THEM

From the home screen you can check the status of your Nest products. The indoor and outdoor cams show a live feed, and Protect gives your home’s health status. For control of each device, tap on the product. To alter the settings of an individual device, tap the cog icon.

HOME AND AWAY

Change what happens to your Nest devices when you’re at home or away. Go to the settings cog (Home screen) and tap Home/Away Assist. Here you’ll see your devices and actions based on location. Tap the Home or Away button to display the current setup and tap each device to change the action.

ORGANISE DEVICES

If your Nest devices are dotted around the home, you can display them all by room type on your home screen using the Spaces feature. Go into settings from the main screen, tap Spaces and toggle the switch to ‘on’ to activate this. If all devices are located in just the one space it’s best to keep this setting deactivated.

ADD WWN

Works with Nest (WWN) products can be added to your Nest ecosystem, but you can’t do this within the app. The procedure for each device is different. You can generally add a product by going to the respective manufacturer’s website, logging in and activating the connection with the Nest app.
