One of Shaderunner® Australia’s recent projects was at a residence located in Lower Esplanade, Aldinga Beach in South Australia. The owners of this lovely home enjoy the superb coastal location, which draws swimmers and surfers to its long stretch of sandy beach, as well as the relaxed dining scene of cafes, pubs and nearby wineries. But to expand the potential use of their own backyard, they needed protection from the elements and looked to Shaderunner® for its durability and classy look.
Two fully retractable Shaderunner® Pro Shade systems were installed at the property, one 4.2m wide with a 10m extension over the swimming pool, and the other 4.0m wide with an 8.0m extension supported by an existing timber-framed pergola in the patio area. Manufactured from a durable polyester mesh fabric for shade protection that reduces up to 95 per cent of the sun’s harmful UV rays, these two pro systems provided the level of shade and sun protection required for these much-used areas.
Being highly versatile due to their retractable mechanism, the pro systems offer controllable shade as and when required. In the warmer months or during hotter times of the day, the Shaderunner® can be extended to provide UV protection and welcome shade. In the cooler months, the Shaderunner® can be retracted back to maximise winter sun and solar gains. Although the system can be installed with motorised operation, the owners of the Aldinga Beach property opted for manual controls using an endless drawcord for simplicity of operation.
