Set in a grade-ll-listed building with an outdoor pool, the Thames Lido Bar and Restaurant in Reading provides a relaxed riverside dining experience. Executive chef Freddy Bird draws on Spanish, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern influences to create a daily-changing menu of sharing dishes cooked over fire. Freddy trained under Phil Howard at the Michelin-starred The Square before moving to Moro, where his love of cooking over fire was born. In 2008, he launched The Lido Restaurant in Bristol, which has been named best restaurant in west England in The Observer Food Monthly Awards. Freddy will create a bespoke experience for BBC Good Food readers, with a fivecourse sharing experience. The menu will include several of Freddy’s signature dishes, including wood-roasted scallops, fish stew cooked over fire and Iberico pork cooked on a charcoal grill, all served sharing-style on a long banquet table. You’ll enjoy a complimentary glass of sparkling Albariño on arrival before sitting down for dinner. A handpicked selection of unusual Spanish wine pairings will be available for purchase, and a complimentary glass of sherry will be served with the sweet course. @Thameslido @freddy_bird
