Want to own your own restaurant?
If you’ve been watching BBC Two’s One Million Pound Drop, you’ll know how difficult it is to be a restaurateur – and what goes on behind the scenes to make a good concept great. Yes, fantastic food is a must, but so too is super service, friendly staff – and financial backing. The show gives some of Britain’s brightest food talent a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to realise their dreams of running their own place. Hosted by restaurant general manager Fred Sirieix (of First Dates fame), each episode sees two sets of budding restaurateurs competing to secure investment. The last three programmes see pitches from soul-food inspired takeaway Trap Kitchen, vegan Thai stall holders Greedy Khao; bubble-and-squeak fans Bubble&, Korean supperclub hopeful Dynasty; and, in the final programme, upmarket burger bar owners Black Bear Burger, and Naked Dough who aim to open a raw cookie-dough parlour. The series continues on BBC Two at 9pm on Thursdays until 21 June.
