Emma Freud’s article on plastic packaging (July) was incredible. The fact that most of our food comes packaged in widely non-recyclable forms causes me and my family immense distress. I try very hard to shop at bulk-buy stores or local markets, I always take my own bags, never use coffee pods and grow as much of my own herbs and veg as possible, but on a budget, this can be tough and I still produce much more plastic waste than I would like. I’d love to be brave enough to unwrap my shopping at a supermarket checkout on a busy Saturday to highlight the waste factor as Emma suggests, however, this seems impractical!
