Travelling aboard the luxurious Scenic Space-ship, you’ll set sail from Arles and travel up the Rhône river, stopping at the charming towns of Avignon, Viviers, Tournon and Chalon-sur-saône. You’ll get the opportunity to tour Roman monuments, taste the celebrated wines of Châteauneufdu-pape and explore by foot or on guided bike rides. Meet Rick Stein
You’ll join Rick for a series of foodie events and excursions on-board. He will share his passion for French food with you in one of the most famous regions for French gastronomy in an exclusive Q&A session, which will be full of entertaining stories from his life and career, with a focus on the recent road trip he did for his latest BBC Two Series, Secret France. He will also reveal some of his favourite recipes from the new accompanying cookbook, which you’ll receive a free copy of, and Rick will be available to sign copies. He will also host a cooking demonstration using locally sourced ingredients, as well as present some of his favourite French delicacies and join you for a cocktail reception and gala dinner. Itinerary
Day 1 Travel from the UK to Lyon
Day 2 Explore Lyon, the gastronomic heart of France, with a choice of excursions. Later you can take a lesson in French cookery in Scenic’s Culinaire kitchen. Day 3 Travel to Beaujolais and enjoy a tasting of the region’s wines or visit the 17th-century Château de Cormatin. In the evening you will be joined by Rick Stein for a gastronomic treat where you will sample local delicacies and hear him talk about his life and career. Day 4 Take a walking tour of Vienne including its Roman amphitheatre. Later, Rick will host a fun and interactive cooking demo, then you’ll be able to join him for a special drinks reception and exclusive gala dinner. Day 5 Opt for a walking tour of the ancient town of Viviers or visit nearby Grignan. Later, you can take a culinary lesson back on board.
Day 6 Shop with a local chef at an Avignon market before cooking in Sceni Culinaire, explore Uzès and Pont Du Gard, sample the wines of Châteauneuf-du-pape and you can also enjoy an exclusive private concert inside the prestigious Palais des Papes.
Day 7 Visit Les Baux, the Roman town of Arles, beautiful Saint-rémy or enjoy a tasting at a local olive farm. Day 8 Disembark and return home.
