CRAFT MUSEUM The vast array of the intricacies and richness of craft application and skill throughout India is under one roof at the National Handicrafts & Handlooms Museum and is breathtaking. I discovered the reference book, The Journey of The Kashmir Shawl, here – a great addition to any library. Cafe Lota within the grounds is a must (whether or not you get to the museum). Sit in the shady courtyard and nibble Indian snacks. Order anything from the vegetarian starters menu – there is no going wrong here. Then walk around the courtyard stalls for locally made treasures.

THE GREY GARDEN Located in arty Hauz Khas, it’s notoriously hard to find anything here, but The Grey Garden is next to the Smokehouse Deli restaurant. The guesthouse and boutique showcases the fashion wares of 11:11 and Korra. The 11:11 label is devoted to a seed-to-stitch philosophy with a 100 per cent handmade range largely using khadi (handmade cloth) and silk and experiments with shibori, embroidery and marbling (or whatever takes their fancy). Korra is all about having your jeans custom-made from start to finish: choosing a style and organic denim
