DESIGNERS JULIETTE ARENT, SARAH-JANE PYKE AND DOMINIQUE BRAMMAH “We honoured the scale of the space and the sense of history inherent in this home by celebrating a sense of nostalgia. Small routed details in the cabinet doors, the blackened bronze handles, wired glass of the pantry, and angled rangehood box surround, are all a contemporary nod to traditional kitchen detailing. We used a restrained palette of midnight blue and figured grey stone against the strong architectural backdrop of polished concrete, white-painted brick, black steel doors and timber trusses.” What luxury items did you choose? “The steel-framed pantry celebrates the ultimately functional nature of this kitchen. Hand-painted joinery doors, which bring a texture and sense of depth. The detail of the island bench stone with its threelayer stepped bullnose edge. Nothing is flimsy; everything is solid, robust and weighty.”
