IF YOU DIDN’T LIVE IN MELBOURNE WHERE ELSE WOULD YOU LIVE? Palm Beach. The coastline is spectacular and the lifestyle is so different from Melbourne. It’s de rigueur to pop down to the beach for a swim at 4pm. I love that. WHICH DESIGNERS DO YOU ADMIRE AND WHY? Everything Patricia Urquiola touches is great. All of her ‘Mutina’ tiles are going into our latest project. She is the modern day renaissance woman. Henry Wilson, Vincent Van Duysen, Sebastian Herkner, Ilse Crawford, Apparatus. Peter D. Cole’s composition of shapes is so incredibly romantic but also so utilitarian and I appreciate the innocence and playfulness of his work. Sarah Hook is doing some amazing things with artists at Franque. WHAT INSPIRES YOUR DESIGN STYLE? I’m inspired more by an attitude of living than a who or what. I like a European aesthetic interpreted through an Australian lens. Precious but irreverent. WHAT’S NEXT ON THE HORIZON? We are expanding to take on some Sydney projects which is really exciting. And a big celebration to mark 10 years in business! chelseahing.com.au.
