WHITE ALL RIGHT DESIGNE R ALEX HOPKINS “The kitchen was part of the restoration and extension of this seaside home outside Melbourne. We worked sensitively with the heritage aspects of the building – designed in the Tudor-style – paying close attention to the importance of continuity, and marrying new features with existing ones. The original footprint of the home was extended to provide a larger kitchen and dining area, offering additional amenity such as an appliance cupboard, a generous island bench, and a designated dining space. Our finishes palette was inspired by the sea and the local teatrees, and is grounded in a raw, warm timber floor with light and bright joinery. Matt and textural finishes such as white two-pack American oak timber veneer joinery, white hand-made square tiles for the splashback, and brushed chrome fixtures were key to ensuring the space was inviting and suitable for entertaining.” studiotate.com.au
