Handsome, well-designed desks elevate the task at hand to a pleasurable status.
ARCHITECT Rob Mills (pictured with Belle interior design editor Lucy Mccabe) says, “You can buy a bespoke desk made by one of the world’s leading furniture companies, one that’s handcrafted by a local supplier, or design a desk to fit with the architecture and interior of your home.
“In my case, we built a new home and designed everything in a holistic way – we hand-picked the furniture to suit the function and style of the house and our lifestyle.
“We envisage our study as a place of learning for our children. Our desk was designed by us and handcrafted by Andrew Lowe (sold through Hub) as a unique, multipurpose piece. The placement of the legs allows three people to sit side-by-side and so we line up as a family with our laptops and books. And we love to entertain, so the desk was created in the same proportion and style as our dining table – we put the desk in the dining room and can gather 18 people together.” robmills.com.au
