WHAT HAS INFORMED AND INSPIRED YOUR DESIGN AESTHETIC? I love books and old magazines; our work is often referenced with a 60s/70s approach, and I source design magazines from those periods. Back then homes were designed to last and had such strong personalities. I love that all our homes have a Flack approach but are all unique and personal for the clients. IS THERE A COMMON ELEMENT THAT RUNS THROUGH YOUR WORK? We want to create highly considered and crafted spaces – classic design with a twist. We love design that takes instincts from site and client. Material, detail, colour and function are paramount. WHAT WERE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE STUDIO AND HOW ARE THESE REFLECTED IN YOUR DESIGN? We wanted the space to be about design, so the nishes room is the centrepiece. We have a very collaborative relationship with our design team, clients and builders so it was important that everyone had access to this space – it is where we hold design reviews, brief our team and have Friday drinks! The design of the studio puts exploration of colour,

material, nish and experience at the forefront of everything. When we present to clients we like to create a fun journey, so each presentation is spread out in multiple areas to keep it fresh and engagement high. It’s the subtle detail that is important. We love focusing on smaller areas that pack a punch, so we have an awesome powder room and bar! At the centre of the studio is a ‘Pleasure Wall’, a standing unit full of books, magazines and nishes which is changed monthly to keep designers up-to-date. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE COMPLETED INTERIOR? Flacktastic! It’s home for our team, clients, builders and peers. WHAT ARE SOME FAVOURITE DESIGN ELEMENTS? We love the overall feel, it’s very welcoming. And we love the custom pink kitchen and green powder room, but oh, the red arched door is just divine! WHAT IS THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND YOUR WORK? We have core design principles we take to every project, but it’s all about the architecture of the home and our clients. IS THERE A PARTICULAR DESIGN ERA OR STYLE THAT RESONATES

Mid-century Italian design and furniture. WHICH ARCHITECTS OR INTERIOR DESIGNERS DO YOU ADMIRE?
