H ello readers, I hope you are somewhere stress-free or on a glamorous sojourn reading our new issue – the rst for 2018. Are you thinking about resolutions for the New Year? Searching for inspiration? Seeking talent to collaborate with to make your dream space come true? If so, you’ve come to the right place. If you’re looking for someone to build your forever home – go straight to p73 where we reveal the winners of our inaugural Belle Luxury Home Building Awards, sponsored by Brickworks and Tongue N Groove. The winners are among an elite group of fastidious building professionals who turn the visions of the design community from ideas to reality. They are often the unsung heroes of projects, and here we shine the spotlight on some of Australia’s best.

Are you considering moving from your house to an apartment or penthouse? I de nitely am! I’m going to downsize in space but upsize in style and location. Join the new luxurians who are among the growing band of sophisticates who want to be able to love it, lock it up and leave it on a whim. For these culturally-curious, millennially-minded adventure seekers home isn’t always where the heart is! If this is where you’re heading, take a look at the diverse spaces from p79, including the North Bondi apartment designed by SJB and reconceived by owner Dean Bialek of Former Glory and built by Ciolino Constructions which was a joint winner of the Best Use of Interior Materials Alterations and Additions category in our building awards.

We all love looking at the spaces that creatives inhabit, and interior designer Nancy Nasa (p54), and Miriam Fanning (p62), of award-winning design rm Mim Design, both have created enviable environments.

Those of you with children will know that what is readily available in bed linen and accessories often has had a serious style bypass or been hijacked by gaudy cartoon characters and patterns. Don’t despair. On p58, our interior design editor Lucy Mccabe shrugs off the twee and OTT and presents some sophisticated options for young tastemakers.

As usual we have a line-up of outstanding homes, starting on p123, from New York to Bali and back to Sydney and Melbourne.

Finally I have come up with 10 resolutions for 2018 that should be pretty easy to keep as they don’t involve giving anything up!

1 Move to a glam Smart Space. 2 Buy a goodlooking car to go with said Smart Space. 3 Do more yoga. 4 Eat more local produce. 5 Travel any time the opportunity pops up. 6 Stress less. 7 Declutter. 8 Complete more really long walks. 9 Read a lot, lot more. 10 Drink more (organic) Champagne!

I trust you enjoy the issue and here’s to an inspiring and rewarding 2018!
