The space is both a place of daily routine and restful retreat, thus requiring both practical and beautiful solutions. The position of the ensuite within the dwelling had previously meant that the room had no ventilation and no natural light. We were able to address these issues with the use of skylights and carefully considered material selection to enhance the best qualities of the space. Due to the location of the ensuite within the house we had limited opportunities to introduce natural light while retaining privacy. The angled skylight to the south provides beautiful, soft natural light. This is the quality that makes the space inviting and joyful.
