1,2&3 Perfect for any wall at your place, it’s also an apartment dweller’s dream – furniture you have that’s only there when you need it!

STEP 8 Fill screw holes with wood filler, let dry then sand smooth. Undercoat then paint all components with 2 to 3 coats of black enamel paint. Allow to dry and sand lightly between coats.

STEP 9 Cut piano hinge to 782mm-long with hacksaw. Place hinge on back face of legs so knuckle of hinge overhangs end by 2mm. Predrill with a 1.5mm drill bit then screw hinge to legs.

STEP 10 Place legs in position with hinge on table. Align with smaller frame fixed to table, leaving a 3mm gap between it and the legs. Mark position of hinge on the table and tape legs to table to prevent them moving.

STEP 11 Raise legs, predrill and screw through hinge into table. Put 4 screws in hinge and check that leg opens smoothly and gap to smaller frame is even before putting in remaining screws.

STEP 12 Cut second piano hinge to 782mm long. Screw to the cut edge at end of smaller frame attached to the table. Make knuckle of hinge flush with face of frame. Screw wall plate (see step 7) to other side of hinge. Make sure faces of smaller frame and wall plate are flush when hinge is closed. STEP 13 Mark wall plate position on wall. Base edge of plate should be 655mm from floor so top of table is 750mm high. Locate position of studs in wall and transfer to thin part of wall plate near base edge. Predrill and countersink for screws at these points.

STEP 14 Cut 2 blocks out of scrap timber 680mm long. Sit these on floor and, with a helper, place table on blocks. Screw through 1 hole in wall plate into a wall stud, check for level then put in second screw. Fill holes, sand smooth and touch up paint.

STEP 15 Screw 50mm batten screws into wall studs 100mm below where top of table meets wall.

STEP 16 To mark position of batten screws on table, draw heavily over ends of batten screws with a pencil. Place masking tape on table where it will meet batten screws then push table against screws so pencil on screws marks the masking tape. At these points drill 10mm deep holes using a 19mm spade bit.

STEP 17 Round edges of holes with sandpaper to suit curve on edge of magnetic latches. Mix epoxy adhesive, apply to outside of latches and press into holes.

STEP 18 Attach print to Corflute using spray adhesive. Trim to fit inside frame if required. Stick self-adhesive Velcro dots to the back of the Corflute and press onto underside of table.
