This pretty town, 35 kilometres south of Hobart, is surrounded by orchards of apples, cherries and pears.

LUNCH AT PEPPERMINT BAY

Feast on local produce sourced from farmers and fishermen, as well as artisan wines and beer at this award-winning restaurant. It’s not only the menu that will please, you’ll enjoy an incredible view across the d’entrecaste­aux Channel and north to Mt Wellington.

VISIT AN ARTIST’S STUDIO

The area is known for its artists and you can see some of the work of the loom at the Woodbridge Hill Handweavin­g Studio. On display are handwoven, hand dyed and knitted goods made from natural fibres. The studio is open most mornings or by appointmen­t.

It is closed on Saturdays.

EXPLORE BRUNY ISLAND

The ferry to nearby Bruny Island departs from the coastal town of Kettering, just a few minutes’ drive north of Woodbridge. On a day trip here you can spot the tiny and endangered forty-spotted pardalote, as well as penguins, dolphins, seals and shearwater­s.
