You will need

• 7 fat quarters in 7 different shades of pink (from darkest to lightest):

Fabric A – darkest pink

Fabric B

Fabric C

Fabric D

Fabric E

Fabric F

Fabric G – lightest pink

• 1 metre fabric for backing and binding

Cutting fabric

From fabric A, cut

2 – 3½ inch squares and 2 – 4 inch squares From fabric B, cut

3 – 3½ inch squares and 4 – 4 inch squares From fabric C, cut

2 – 3½ inch squares and 5 – 4 inch squares

From fabric D, cut

6 – 4 inch squares

From fabric E, cut

2 – 3½ inch square and 5 – 4 inch squares

From fabric F, cut

2 – 3½ inch squares and 4 – 4 inch squares

From fabric G, cut

3 – 3½ inch squares and 2 – 4 inch squares. From backing and binding fabric, cut 3 – 2¼ inch x WOF strips for the binding. Leave the remainder of the fabric for the backing.

Making the HST units

STEP 1 Pair 1 fabric

A and fabric B, 4 inch square, RST. Draw a diagonal line on reverse of 1 square (Figure A).

STEP 2 Sew ¼ inch either side of the drawn line. Trim along the drawn line. Press each unit open to make 2 HST units. Trim each unit to 3½ inch square.

STEP 3 Repeat Steps 1 and 2 to make the following: 2 fabric B/C HST Units 2 fabric B/D HST Units 2 fabric C/D HST Units 2 fabric C/E HST Units 4 fabric D/E HST Units 3 fabric E/F HST Units 4 fabric F/G HST Units

Assembling quilt top

STEP 4 Arrange HST units from dark to light referring to Quilt assembly diagram for HST colour placement. Join into rows, then join rows to complete quilt top.
