lovely lobelias

With tiny flowers but masses of them, lobelias are a lovely alternative to summer’s blowsier blooms. Their deep blue colour is seen in few other flowers and they also come in light blue, mauve, pink and white. Lobelias like a friable soil with added fertiliser and a sunny spot, but do okay in light shade – just make sure they get morning sun. Give them protection from strong winds, plus regular water and a monthly liquid feed.
