Here’s how

Eye mask contents

In a bowl, mix the flaxseeds and dried lavender. If lavender isn’t your thing, use an essential oil. Put flaxseeds and oil in a bowl (the amount will depend on the oil), mix with a metal spoon and let the scent infuse the seeds. Put bowl aside until you are ready to use.

STEP 1 Print out the eye mask shape (see diagram), pin it onto the fabric front, back and wadding. Cut around eye mask shape, giving yourself an extra 2cm all the way around for the seam allowance.

STEP 2 Place the fabric right sides together and wadding on top of the satin, pin in place.

STEP 3 Measure your head (or guess if it’s a gift) and cut the ribbon, remembering to have extra length to be able to tie a bow to secure mask on your head.

STEP 4 Fold ribbon length in half and cut – you should have 2 equal-sized lengths.

STEP 5 Sew around mask, leaving an opening on each side for the ribbon to fit.

STEP 6 Pull the eye mask through one of the openings so that it is now right side facing out and wadding inside.

STEP 7 Place the ribbon in one end and sew the opening up.

STEP 8 Using the funnel in the other opening spoon in a few teaspoons of the lavender and flaxseed mixture.

STEP 9 Place the ribbon in the opening and sew up the opening.
