Using a flat seam, join side edges of body to form belly seam, inserting bolster at tail end before finishing. Run a gathering thread at 10cm and 20cm from head end. Push head end to loose end of bolster, draw up gathering threads to make woolly rolls. Attach face and legs as pictured. Using contrasting yarn, embroider eyes with straight stitches as pictured. Sew in ends.

Tufts
Using diagram as a guide, measure and mark tuft positions. Work 2 rows of tufts evenly across one ridge of knitting below marking and one row above as folls – Wind Almond around 12cm wide piece of cardboard and cut along one edge. Fold 5 strands in half and using crochet hook draw loop through, then draw ends through loop and pull firmly. Trim evenly.
Fringe
Wind Almond around 18cm wide piece of cardboard and cut along one edge. Fold 5 strands in half and using crochet hook, draw loop through edge of throw in first stitch. Repeat along top and bottom edges of throw. Trim evenly.

Here’s how
STEP 1 Pin pieces of fabric onto your calico background. Make sure they overlap by at least 1cm. STEP 2 Using a simple running stitch, attach your pinned down pieces to the calico background. Once the pieces are in place you can overlap with a variety of trims and laces. STEP 3 Trace the embroidery pattern diagram onto tracing paper. Pin on top of fabric panel. STEP 4 Using a combination of back stitch and French knots, stitch the botanical pattern over the top.
