WHEN AN EXPERT RENOVATOR CREATED HER FAMILY’S FOREVER HOME, SHE ENSURED IT WAS BUILT TO LAST - AND TO LOVE

Famous for their stylish renovations, Three Birds Renovations have created numerous dream homes. So when one of their own, Bonnie Hindmarsh, decided to create her family’s forever home, it was personal. Bonnie had been collecting ideas for her family home’s look and feel for years. Her ‘modern coastal barn’ white weatherboard home with wraparound verandahs would easily work on their five-acre block, but the location had its challenges. “Our biggest was that our site is in a BAL 40 rated bush fire zone,” says Bonnie. “We needed to use materials that are compliant.” Which is where the decision to use Scyon™ Linea™ weatherboard and Hardiedeck™ came in. “We knew it looked great, but it’s also BAL 40 rated and termite resistant, so it was a no-brainer,” says Bonnie.

Hardiedeck™ decking is made from James Hardie’s premium fibre cement. It creates a clean look to connect a stylish interior environment with the outdoors, without risking damage from the elements. Smooth, wide, gap-free boards and freedom of colour choice make this cement decking a stunning outdoor floor, which was another plus for Bonnie, who’s a keen entertainer and a mum to four growing boys. “I love that it won’t splinter,” she says, “so there’s no worry about little bare feet running around. But the best thing is that we’ve always loved entertaining, and this new alfresco area has taken things to the next level!”
