Better Homes and Gardens (Australia)

Hello...

While impossible to ignore the impact the coronavirus is having on our lives and those of our loved ones, it’s...

-

Heartening how we are coming together – figuratively – to support each other. Just now, as I was writing this letter, there was a knock on the door and there was my neighbour, checking if I was okay. This and other acts of kindness are being repeated across our nation.

This month, the brilliant BHG team is working from home and, tech issues aside, we’ve coped well with our new ‘workplace’. And so I thought I’d share how we are all dealing with home isolation while continuing to bring you the magazine we all love.

Julia has a pot of soup going non-stop, her secret ingredient – Vegemite. Siobhan is busy distraction baking, as she calls it, making cakes to share with friends. Joseph is a character and true to form said he makes a point of getting outside in his ‘muumuu and huge dark sunnies’ – I think he is having me on – to read a book for review. Jenny multi-tasks, taking work calls and weeding simultaneously. Scott is seeking the ‘king of coverlines’ title with this month’s effort – Pie-solation. What do you think?

Artemis calls her housemates ‘colleagues,’ sharing after-work drinks on Fridays at 6pm. Right now, Vanessa is still shooting but practising social distancing. Monique is learning about homeschooling. Today it was a guitar class via Zoom – a tick for technology. Carol dances/jumps around to music for exercise. Annie is finding comfort in the smiles everyone shares that say, ‘Yes, it’s tough, but we’re all in this together’. As for Greg, he has quit smoking, yay Greg!

We hope this issue keeps you busy at home as you try out the delicious recipes, craft, home and gardening ideas.

Stay safe, Australia.
