Rubra means red, and this is some red! The long, broad, dark-red leaves bring the tropics to your garden. Its new leaves come out in a shocking pink, eventually muting to a rich burgundy often streaked with green. Hot – it’s almost dangerous!

Accent, pots Sun, part shade 2m high x 70cm wide Upright Well-drained, fertile Tropical, subtropical, warm temperate Feed in spring and autumn with fertiliser high in potassium to maintain colour, and water regularly.
