GROWING TIPS FOR YOU

-

• Plants need at least six hours of direct sunlight a day to produce lots of fruit.

• Don’t over-water as this can produce crack scars in the fruit. But keep soil moist.

• Extra nitrogen in your fertiliser reduces capsaicin levels because more energy is used to produce leafy growth at the expense of your fruit. Cooler weather also cuts down on the spice. There are more than 200 varieties of chillies, so they can be grown in tropical or subtropical areas all year round. In temperate areas, sow seeds from autumn to December and where it’s cold from September to mid-november.
