WINTER SAVIOURS
THE BEST OF FRIENDS
Like old friends, hellebores are there when we need them most, such as the height of winter when little else is about. Once established, hellebores – often called winter roses or Lenten roses – are a delight, with their exquisite nodding blooms. In fact, it’s the sepals or modified leaves around the flowers that give these charmers their wow factor. Hellebores selfseed, but be careful when transplanting because they loathe being disturbed.
