BANYAN TREE JIUZHAIGOU, a 209-room resort in the Sichuan region of China, will open for business in Q3 2016. FOUR SEASONS has reopened in Jakarta after a two-year period out of the market. Located in an all-new building, the 125-room, all-suite hotel is part of Jakarta’s Capital Place developmen­t, designed by Cesar Pelli of Kuala Lumpur’s Petronas Towers fame. GRAND HYATT CHENGDU, the first Hyatt-branded hotel in China’s Sichuan province, has opened for business. The 390-room property is housed on floors 10 to 39 of the Chicony Square building. PREMIER INN is to abandon its plans to expand in India and Southeast Asia, in order to focus on internatio­nal opportunit­ies in Germany and the Middle East. QUEST APARTMENT HOTELS will operate the Quest NewQuay Docklands, Melbourne when it opens in 2019. The 221-room property is owned by The Ascott Limited and Qatar Investment Authority as part of their 50:50 joint venture. RITZ-CARLTON, NANYAN BAY, the second resort hotel in Hainan by The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, is scheduled to open in 2017. The 244-room resort will also see the debut of the first Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in China. SEDONA HOTEL YANGON is increasing its focus on the long-stay market with a series of new apartment-style rooms and a brand-new Residents’ Lounge. STARWOOD has opened its second Le Meridien-branded property in Qingdao. Le Meridien Qingdao West Coast Resort features 218 guestrooms, and complement­s the more business-focused Le Meridien Qingdao, which is situated within the city centre. Starwood also plans to open its first Melbourne-based Aloft property in 2019 – the 176-room Aloft Melbourne South Yarra.
