Upgraded experience

Lufthansa continues to improve long-haul travel,

-

Lufthansa recently launched Premium Economy for long-haul. Hong Kong was one of the first places to receive the new travel class, with Lufthansa providing the only direct link from Munich.

Whether travelling for business or pleasure, customers are now guaranteed an even more comfortable experience. The new product gives passengers 50 percent more room, alongside practical features such as power sockets and improved storage, while a bigger seat-back screen enhances in-flight entertainment.

Superior service comes in the form of a welcome drink, complimentary bottle of water and amenity kit, while food is served on porcelain tableware.

The premium experience isn’t restricted to onboard; in addition to a doubled weight allowance, premium economy passengers can also pay 25 (US$28) to enjoy the service and amenities of Lufthansa’s Business Class lounges.

The new cabin was an instant success, and has now been rolled out across Lufthansa’s entire long-haul network – including the up-and-coming A350s.

The modern, environmentally friendly aircraft seats 293 passengers, with 48 seats in Business Class, 21 in Premium Economy and 224 in Economy Class.

All of the aircraft will be based in the carrier’s Munich hub – and with good reason: Munich Airport has been named the best European airport nine times by Skytrax, and was the first European airport to be granted five-star status.

Lufthansa enjoys great synergy with the airport, leading to a seamless experience for all passengers. This successful partnership was further strengthened with the opening of the Terminal 2 Satellite extension in 2016 – constructed exclusively for Lufthansa. Passengers travelling in first or business class, HON Circle members, Senators and frequent travellers will have five new lounges to choose from with a total area of more than 4,000 sqm.

High-tech facilities abound, from free wifi and charging points to handy Infogate services, while there is also a wealth of entertainment options including a large retail outlet and even spa facilities. A standout is the airport’s own brewery – Airbräu – which gives passengers the chance to sample authentic Bavarian dishes and freshly brewed beer.

Meanwhile, the VIP Wing, accessible to all passengers regardless of airline or ticket class, offers a spacious bar and dining area, plus stylish lounges including a cigar lounge and an outdoor beer garden. It also offers the next level in personalised service, from dedicated immigration and check-in points to limousine transfers to and from the aircraft, with VIP suites also available.

The airport is also ideal for transit passengers, offering a 30-minute minimum connection time (MCT) thanks to the short distance between gates, easy navigation and stereotypical German efficiency.
