ACCORHOTEL­S brought its Mercure brand to the Malaysian capital last month, opening the Mercure Kuala Lumpur Shaw Parade in the city’s Bukit Bintang retail district. The 213-room hotel features a rooftop pool bar and three event venues. ASCOTT THE RESIDENCE entered Japan last month with the opening of its first property in the country, Ascott Marunouchi Tokyo. The 130-unit property is situated in the city’s main internatio­nal finance centre, the Marunouchi-Otemachi area. DUSIT THANI will gain a presence in Nanjing, Jiangsu province when it opens the new 110-villa Dusit Thani Wetland Park Resort Nanjing, Jiangsu later this year. The hotel will be located within the Nanjing Shangqinhu­ai Eco Wetland Park, approximat­ely 20 minutes from Nanjing Internatio­nal Airport. IHG has signed an agreement to develop a new Holiday Inn Sydney Central hotel in 2020, which the company claims will be the largest midscale property in Sydney’s central business district. MINOR HOTELS is set to make a 2019 debut in South Korea when the hotel company aims to open the Avani Busan – a 400-key property in the city’s retail and entertainm­ent area, East Busan Tourism Complex Zoning. PULLMAN will be adding a New Zealand airport hotel to its portfolio by late 2019. The new property, which will carry the name “Te Arikinui”, is set to begin constructi­on by the end of this year and will be located adjacent to Auckland Airport’s internatio­nal terminal. SIGNIEL, a luxury hotel brand from Lotte Hotels and Resorts, will open in Seoul this month on levels 76-101 of the 555-metre, 123-floor Lotte World Tower – the fifth tallest tower in the world. THE ADDRESS HOTELS AND RESORTS has opened its first new property in seven years. The Address Boulevard in Dubai is located opposite Dubai Mall and features some 251 artworks created by 48 artists. A total of 196 rooms and 532 serviced residences comprise the property.
