New B777-9 will be ten-across in econ­omy

BOE­ING has re­leased full tech­ni­cal de­tails of its fu­ture B777-9 series air­craft. These are ex­pected to en­ter ser­vice in a few years’ time and have al­ready been pur­chased by Emi­rates, Lufthansa and Sin­ga­pore Air­lines.

In­cluded among the B777-9’s de­tails are Boe­ing’s rec­om­mended seat­ing plans. These re­veal that the un­pop­u­lar ten-across (3-4-3) econ­omy class lay­out will al­most cer­tainly be adopted by all air­line cus­tomers.

How­ever, heed­ing the al­most uni­ver­sal neg­a­tive pas­sen­ger feed­back from those wider cabin on the B777-9, al­low­ing seat man­u­fac­turer Zo­diac to de­vise a light­weight seat pro­vid­ing 17.4 inches of width for the B777-9. Although this seat is not quite as boe­ing.com
