100,000+ travel ex­pe­ri­ences with Mar­riott and Pla­cepass

Mar­riott In­ter­na­tional re­cently in­vested in travel ac­tiv­ity price com­par­i­son plat­form Pla­cepass, en­abling trav­ellers to choose from the web­site’s more than 100,000 travel ex­pe­ri­ences in 800 des­ti­na­tions when they book through the ho­tel group’s web­site or the Star­wood Pre­ferred Guest (SPG) loy­alty pro­gramme web­site.

These ad­di­tional ex­pe­ri­ences will be of­fered in ad­di­tion to Mar­riott’s ex­ist­ing ac­tiv­i­ties avail­able through its loy­alty pro­grammes, in­clud­ing SPG’s Mo­ments and Mar­riott Re­wards’ Ex­pe­ri­ences Mar­ket­place. Ac­cord­ing to the ho­tel group, last year more than 6,000 travel ex­pe­ri­ences in­clud­ing mu­sic, sports, cui­sine and cul­ture were re­deemed via its Ex­pe­ri­ences Mar­ket­place.

Among the stand­out ac­tiv­i­ties avail­able are VIP vis­its to film­ing lo­ca­tions of Bri­tish TV series Down­ton Abbey, wrestling with a re­tired sumo wrestler in Tokyo, and dune ex­plo­ration by camel or 4WD ve­hi­cle in Dubai.
