CONRAD GUANGZHOU opened its doors in late May, and is the brand’s seventh hotel in China. The property is situated in the city’s Zhujiang New Town central business district.

MARRIOTT INTERNATIO­NAL plans to open a total of seven new properties in Japan this year. Five of these will be under its upscale Marriott Hotels brand, while two will be part of its affordable lifestyle-focused Moxy Hotels brand.

ONYX HOSPITALIT­Y GROUP is pumping US$100 million into its Pattaya developmen­ts, enhancing its existing Amari Pattaya and Amari Pattaya Ocean Tower properties, and building a new 406-room Ozo Pattaya next door.

PENTAHOTEL­S is coming to Thailand in 2020, following the German “designled and neighbourh­ood lifestyle” brand’s announceme­nt of the new 157-guestroom Pentahotel Bangkok, Ploenchit. RITZ-CARLTON has debuted in Kazakhstan’s capital, following the opening of its 157-key The Ritz-Carlton Astana. Located near the Baiterek monument, the hotel has three restaurant­s, a spa and a 14th-floor club lounge with private check-in.

ROSEWOOD HOTELS AND RESORTS is extending its compliment­ary nights offering at 17 properties worldwide as part of its “More Rosewood” promotion. The offer applies through select dates, which vary depending on the property and range from August 4 to December 31 this year.

SOFITEL HOTELS AND RESORTS will open its largest property in the Middle East in 2019. The 501-room Sofitel Dubai Wafi will also feature 97 serviced apartments along with outdoor pools, a gym and numerous restaurant­s.

THE ASCOTT LIMITED has opened its new Somerset Bangkok Ekamai serviced residence, the company’s 11th property in Thailand. Studios as well as one-, two- and three-bedroom units are available across three categories. THE

EXCELSIOR HONG KONG is being reviewed by its owner, Mandarin Oriental Internatio­nal Limited, which is assessing long-term strategic options for the property, including its possible sale. The site has already received approval for developmen­t of a 63,500 sqm commercial building, putting the future of the long-time Hong Kong hotel into question.
