BRIEF EXPOSURES
Canon is celebrating 30 years of its EOS System which all started back in March 1987 with the introduction of the EOS 650, quickly followed by the EOS 620 (which were subsequently launched together in Australia). These were Canon’s first autofocus SLRs – 35mm film models, of course – and used a new all-electronic lens mount, incompatible with the previous FD fitting. It was a brave move, but proved to be the right one with the total number of EOS camera bodies built since then exceeding 80 million and the number of lenses now over 120 million units in the EF, EF-S and EF-M mounts.
