“Sigma’s newest Art Series prime lens is aimed at portrait

photographers and anyone who want to utilise the dramatic, shallow depth-of-field effects available at 85mm and f1.4. The optical design includes two ‘FLD’ (fluorite equivalent) elements and one with anomalous partial-dispersion (AD) characteristics with a high-refractive index to deliver extremely low levels of chromatic aberration. The lens has a nine-blade electronically-controlled diaphragm, Sigma’s upgraded HSM focusing drive (with a 1.3x torque boost to increase speed and accuracy), a durable brass mount and barrel tubes made from a special material called Thermally Stable Composite (TSC) which provides consistent performance in extreme temperatures and is considerable lighter than the other materials that would yield similar benefits.”
