Sited just a few miles north of Coventry, and originally a mid-20th Century building owned by Coventry Hood and Sidescreens, it was bought by Aston Martin Tickford in the 1980s. Tickford carried out many contracts there, not only for Ford, but special-bodied Sherpa vans for British Leyland, too. For Ford, in the 1980s, first they built Tickford Capris, then refurbished most Shenstone-built RS200 before delivery, followed this up with the completion of 500 Sierra RS500 Cosworths, and ended by building the Escort 1600E limited edition.
