Dave Garnett

If there’s an award for who has owned a Mk2 RS2000 the longest, then Dave Garnett is certainly in the running — he’s had his October 1979-built Venetian Red Standard model for 33 years. Since buying the RS in 1984, he’s kept it in tip top condition, treating the RS to two bare metal resprays, replacement cloth on the factory-fitted, optional Custom seats and a rebuilt head. “I could never part with it,” says Dave. “I grew up watching rallying in the ‘70s and it’s the car I always wanted — it’s just beautiful to drive and really smooth.”
