Serious rust is likely in the sills, inner wings, strut tops, bulkhead, floorpan, bulkhead, A-posts, chassis rails, spare wheel well and boot floor, and above the petrol tank. Crispy rear arches are common as are the wings rusting down the back and front edges. Only second-hand bonnets are available but the vast majority of panels can be replaced with reproduction items. Genuine NOS Ford panels occasionally surface but they’re very expensive. Good exterior trim is also in high demand, although reproduction decals and vinyl roofs are available. Repairing damaged glass — whether bronze, clear or green — is no longer an issue with a number of suppliers now offering reproduction items.
