A great response from readers who have catalogued their motoring past.

Having read your intro in the January issue, I thought I would get in touch to say that a few years ago I decided it would be a good idea to compose a photo album of all the cars I have owned. Being a genius photo compiler and organiser, my wife had all our photos saved in date order, and many already in print in various albums.

I had owned a lot of cars, some of which were never driven, others that I had driven but only off-road for autotests and trials. We decided to stick to those I actually had legally on the road and had used, even if only for a brief period. The latest count is 67 of my own, plus a further 16 which were in my wife's name. They range from my first Triumph Herald to the usual Minis, other various Triumphs including 2500S, Vitesse and Stag, a number of Rover P6s, MGs, modern at the time Citroën BXs, Xantias, Jaguars, Mercedes and Audis, through to my current four cars of an MGB, TR7, Jaguar X-type and my wife's modern Fiat 500.

I have rebuilt numerous cars, including a body-off rebuild of my Triumph Vitesse, only to have to sell it as I could not fit the pram in! A rare Bond Equipe was rebuilt from a complete basket case (I must have been mad!) and a P6 Rover 3500S was rebuilt with the colour changed panel by panel in my single garage. I am now lucky to have retired and have a double garage in which I am currently restoring a TR7 coupé. That is the result of the usual story of an impulse buy on eBay because it seemed cheap and I had not had one before. Luckily it turned out not to be too bad, but with very rusty doors and a ripped sunroof. Still, it has kept me busy during lockdown, along with building and extension.
