5. Patch­ing up a clas­sic Korg M1 sound

1 Korg’s M1 may be a main­stay of the Hol­i­day Inn lounge, but that doesn’t mean it’s in­ca­pable of pro­duc­ing stun­ning sounds. This lean ma­chine of­fers all of the usual sub­trac­tive syn­the­sis func­tions, but wraps them around some evoca­tive sam­pled wave­forms. The first `Combi’ is a stacked patch called Film Score. 2 Click Prog to go into the sin­gle patch mode. Now we hear the fa­mous M1 Uni­verse patch. If you look at the pa­ram­e­ters on the Easy ed­i­tor, you’ll see it’s made up of two os­cil­la­tors, each play­ing a dif­fer­ent `Mul­ti­sound’. Click Browser for Mul­ti­sound 2 and se­lect the WindBells Mul­ti­sound.
