OVERTONE DSP AF2-10-CM

The analogue-style EQ plugin is free with this issue

A British developer with a penchant for analogue modelling, OverTone DSP now boast a sizeable catalogue of classic EQ and dynamics emulation plugins, including virtualisations of the MEQ-5, Fairchild 670 limiter and SSL 4000 G-Series compressor/ gate (8/10, 209). To add to those, there’s also the tasty plate reverb RVB500, and our own Pultec EQP-1A clone, Program EQ CM.

AF2-10-CM is the exclusive Computer Music edition of the company’s AF2-10 Graphical EQ plugin, designed to deliver four ultra-flexible bands of analogue-style equalisation. All nine of the full version’s filter types are included, as are its slick, mouse-driven workflow and, most importantly, fantastic sound. It uses, in OverTone DSP’s own words, “innovative DSP algorithms to accurately model the frequency response of analogue filters, even at close to the limit imposed by the sample rate, without high CPU demand or additional latency.” Works for us!

In this walkthrough and its accompanying video tutorial, we’ll show you how to get started with AF2-10-CM, from installing it on your Mac or PC, to explaining the finer points of its interface and functionality.
