The legendary Vengeance-Sound continue to have significant influence in music production. Their sample packs have become industry standards and can be heard all over electronic music, delivering the power and impact that modern genres require. Plus, alongside their samples, soundsets and the ever popular ROMpler Nexus, they also output world-class effects and the mighty synth VPS Avenger. Their output is consistently outstanding, making their tools must-haves for both production and performance.
Here, we’re going to look at three effects processors from Vengeance: Philta XL, Tapestop and Glitch Bitch. Although sharing a similar interface, each plugin has a different focus: Philta XL is a hugely powerful filter; Tapestop provides classic pitching effects; and Glitch Bitch can slice your audio into crazy stuttering edits. All three are deep and creative plugins which encourage experimentation, and although they’re worth £40 ($55 and €49), one can be yours for free when you purchase or renew your
Computer Music subscription via our official website. These effects are available for both PC and Mac in VST/VST3/AU/AAX formats and demo versions can be obtained from the Vengeance website ( vengeance-sound.com), so you can take them for a spin before you decide.
In this feature, we’re going to put these three effects through their paces, showing you how they work and – more importantly – how they sound, with a video version of each tutorial available to download from
vault.computermusic.co.uk or to stream in the iOS edition of the mag.
We’ll look into the creative uses of Philta XL’s envelope follower and onboard effects; create classic and tempo synced pitch effects with Tapestop; and sequence fills and breakdowns with the outrageous Glitch Bitch. And of course, each tutorial is supported by audio examples so you can follow along every step of the way. There’s a lot to get through, so it’s time to fire up your DAW and get started…
