BT’s grand repository

-

Weighing in at a hefty 23GB, Phobos’ sample library was designed entirely by BT. Drawing on his illustrious audio history, it is, in a word, epic. Crucially, the whole lot is accessible to both Source and Convolver modules – you can mix them up in any way you like, as demonstrated by BT, Richard Devine and Spitfire in the 716 fabulous presets.

The 2422 samples within are divided into two categories: Loops and Tonal – although the Tonals are in fact looped as well. Think of them loosely as ‘rhythmic’ and ‘sustained’, the former covering acoustic and electronic beats, percussion ensembles, glitchy movements and more, at tempos from 60-180bpm; the latter taking in a rich and diverse universe of pitched and melodic sounds and noises. 115 analogue synth waves have been included, too, proving useful for beefing up thin patches, amongst other things.

Samples are loaded via a simple browser with a search field and a lengthy list of filters for narrowing the visible options down. Clicking the List Similar button sets the filters to those tagged in the selected sample, and a pair of menus let you filter Tonals by key and Loops by tempo. Sadly, however, you can’t import your own WAVs.
