Another episodic marker effect is the ominous, swelling brass synth. “This synth effect, which we play one bar before any break, is a brass sound from the Arturia CS80-V2. We use Arturia stuff for a lot of our sounds,” Jon laughs. The preset is HS_ Longhorn, from the Brasses menu.

“We’ll mess around with a few things, changing the Release and the Attack, and changing where you play it. When you drop into the crashes, it gives it a nice effect.”
