The track winds down with the Virus chords from the breakdown. The guys agree that the track needs another hour or so before being complete – it’s not releaseready yet, but that’s not the point of this session. Over just a couple of hours, Steve and Drew have cooked up a solid track that rolls from start to finish, without getting bogged down tweaking an eight-bar loop for an entire session.

When they listen back to the track, the ideas come in context – the shell is there, but it just needs filling in a little. “We’ve finished a track there,” says Steve. “We could play it, use it in a set … it’s not perfect, it needs more work – we can do that, but we’ve got to finish the track.
