Web www.audiority.com Format Mac/PC, VST/AU/AAX Audiority’s puzzlingly named new reverb plugin may have one of the most uninspiring GUIs we’ve ever seen, but its 10 core algorithms deliver a wealth of options for regular spatialising and creative sound design. The first five cover the traditional reverb bases, emulating classic Room, Hall, Plate (1 and 2) and Spring algorithms, while the other half of the list veers off into more unusual territory. Glass is beautifully delicate, ideal for ‘transparent’ application, and Flow is a heavy, 90s-style option. The Shimmer and Bode algorithms place a pair of pitchshifters and a frequency shifter in the feedback circuit, respectively, for all manner of strange and ear-catching tonal and harmonic effects. Lastly, Formant is the least successful of the set, running the input signal through a formant filter prior to hitting the reverb. Each algorithm has two dedicated controls (Pitch A and Pitch B with Shimmer, for example) beyond the six common to all of them, and the Freeze button captures and loops the reverb buffer until deactivated. XenoVerb sounds fantastic and handles well – just don’t let the dreary fascia put you off!
