Cinematic Soundscape
We haven’t been able to go to the cinema of late, so here’s a set of classic samples from the Vault to get you back in the mood…
Missing a good old trip to the flicks? We’ve raided the Vault for some classic cinematic samples that first appeared on our DVD way back in 2013, but have really stood the test of time.
Here’s what Robbie from Cyclick
said on their production: “Using Bladerunner Blues by Vangelis from the Bladerunner soundtrack as a sonic template, here are four tempo-based kits of lines, loops, bassline, beats and multisampled instruments to take you far, but not too far, into the future.
“Mellow and spacious sounds are the dish of the day, with the Rhodes piano dominating the soundscape. As a real, if slightly battered, Rhodes Mark One has been used throughout, there are some full multisamples provided as you just can’t have enough of this beautiful instrument.
“The 80bpm kit has a full and fruity velocity-layered multisample of clean Rhodes, while the other appearances are effected (verbed, step-filtered, phased, etc.), and they’re all quite editable.
“Most of the bass instruments/ lines are courtesy of the ever flexible Jen SX1000 monosynth that, with some extra effects, has a quality far beyond its appearance.
“The other string and lead sounds come from the Kurzweil
K2600 (Colonel Kurz as it’s called here), which has a synthesis architecture that can take a lifetime to master (I hired a time machine to get to grips with the Colonel) and never ceases to form the basis of many juicy sounds.”
“All the samples have their kit number, instrument, version, tempo and key/pitch in the filename, and they are all 24bit/44.1Khz wavs.
“Most of the lines are loopable, but some have a bar or two left on the end to allow for delay and reverb tails.”
The samples can be found in the Free Samples folder on the DVD or at filesilo.co.uk under issue 284.
