> Step by step
1. Getting started with SynthMaster Player
1
First up you need to get an individual code by filling in an online form. The address for this is in the document ‘SynthMaster Player instructions’ at filesilo.co.uk issue 287 Autumn. (Apologies for the slight faff here but we have to do this for piracy reasons so that only readers can register for the plugin.)
2
Once you have filled in the form – with your name, email and ticked a couple of opt in/out options – you will get a registration code emailed to you. Now copy the Mac or PC installer on the DVD (or download them from 287 at filesilo. co.uk) to your hard drive and run it.
3
Now open your DAW. The new SynthMaster Player should be picked up as a new plugin by your DAW and the above registration dialogue screen should appear. Now enter your details (name and email) followed by the registration code you were emailed in the last step.
4
If your DAW doesn’t pick up SynthMaster Player, don’t worry, try restarting your machine (this happened in one instance with us) and then restart your DAW to get the dialogue box in the previous step. Once you successfully register you will get an email from KV331 Audio with your SynthMaster serial number which you can use to get updates and more.
5
Now open up a DAW session and load up an instance of SynthMaster Player as you would a normal instrument plugin on a MIDI channel within your DAW. It should be located under KV331Audio in your drop-down plugin menu as shown (in Logic).
6
Let’s have a quick tour of the main screen starting with the main attraction, all of those 1800 presets! You can filter these by Type, Style, Author and Bank. They have been produced by a range of sound designers including, Bluffmunkey, Kevin Schroeder, Rob Lee and Vandalism.
7
Simply click on a category in the Type list, for example, and all of the presets linked to this will be listed in the right hand column. To home in further, select Style or Author and all the presets linked to both will be listed as you gradually zero in on a smaller list of presets to choose from.
8
There are three main ways to load presets from the filtered list of results. You can simply click on it, move up and down the list via the top ‘<’ and ‘>’ icons as shown above, or use your computer’s up/ down cursor buttons.
