Modular madness!
We have two synth packs from our Vault this issue, and in keeping with the synth theme, we’ve gone modular mad with some extra synth mayhem
As it’s very much a synth theme this issue, we have raided the mighty Vault for two packs of classic modular synth samples entitled Modular Madness and Modular Mayhem.
Robbie Stamp from producers Cyclick Samples says of Madness:
“This collections splits into two parts: Oscillator Multisamples and Looped Synth Lines. The 36 multisample sets are all made from analogue sources and processes and are collated into three octave ranges with four evenly-spaced notes per octave (C, D#, F# and A). They’ve been edited to loop as a whole so that they can be dropped into any sampler package and act like any oscillator. The original oscillations came from three main
sources: the Jen SX-1000 monosynth with its Triangle, Square and PWM oscillations, a Moogerfooger’s low-pass filter with its resonance on full to produce a sine wave, and the carrier from its ring modulator.”
Of the Modular Mayhem collection, Oli Bell from Groove
Criminals says: “All the modular samples were taken from an extended set of freeform jams on an Analogue Systems RS8000 Eurorack system modular, supplemented by some other modules from Tip Top, Make Noise, Bubblesound and others.
“The Moogerfooger modular was implemented by taking the OSC output from the Freqbox, as used as the basic tone generator.
This could then be pitched using CV from our SH-09 via the Freq In CV. This signal was then fed through the ring mod and/or phaser before the low-pass filter and MuRF, then finally into the delay. All the sequencing for all the samples, except the Modular system, was run by either the Future Retro Orb, Arturia MiniBrute’s arpeggio, Cubase with a Mutable Instruments MIDIpal inserted inline, or from a Roland MC-09 – the secret weapon for acid sequences!”
There’s also a bonus pack of analogue synth samples by Groove Criminals. All of the samples can be found in the Free Samples folder on the DVD or at filesilo.co.uk under issue 287.
