1. Downloading and installing Kilohearts Slice EQ

1 So that only you, Computer Music readers, can get this month’s free Kilohearts Slice EQ, instructions for the code are at filesilo.co.uk. If you haven’t already, create an account there, head to the Computer Music folder, select issue 289 and answer the easy question related to this issue of the magazine. You will now get access to this month’s content!

2 The instructions are simply called ‘Free Kilohearts Plugin instructions’. There is a website link included for you to click on. Go there, enter your email and check/uncheck any requested boxes. You will then be sent a unique code.

3 Now visit kilohearts.com/redeem. You should get the option to enter your email address and redeem code you got emailed in the last step. Enter both.

4 You will then get sent an email with the installers, as shown above. Click on either the Mac or PC version and the installer should automatically download.

5 Once downloaded, double-click on the installer (as shown above for Mac) and Slice EQ will start installing. You may need to enter your computer admin password.

6 During the installation you will be asked which format of the plugin you’d like to install. Choose which of the four options (AU, is for Logic, VST/VST 3 for most other DAWs, AAX for Pro Tools).

7 As with other plugin ecosystems nowadays, you might get the option to install other Kilohearts’ plugins to buy later. For now you can just check the Slice EQ as that is the one you have the redeem code for.

8 After installing, the installation process will stop and you’ll get a ‘Sweet’ option! The EQ should be installed on your system. Open your DAW – in this case Logic on the Mac – and you should find the EQ in your regular plugin location. You are now ready to go!
