KATE RAVILIOUS

Kate is a free­lance jour­nal­ist, based in York, Eng­land. For­merly an earth sci­en­tist, she re­alised she was too im­pa­tient for re­search and jumped side­ways into jour­nal­ism 14 years ago. Her ar­ti­cles have ap­peared in a wide range of pub­li­ca­tions in­clud­ing New Sci­en­tist,

The Econ­o­mist, The Guardian and Na­tional Ge­o­graphic on­line news.

ROBYN ARIANRHOD

Robyn is an Ad­junct Se­nior Re­search Fel­low in the School of Math­e­mat­i­cal Sciences, Monash Univer­sity. Her re­search fields are gen­eral rel­a­tiv­ity and his­tory of math­e­mat­i­cal sci­ence, for which she is also a tech­ni­cal re­viewer for the Amer­i­can Math­e­mat­i­cal So­ci­ety. Her books in­clude Ein­stein’s Heroes: Imag­in­ing the World through the Lan­guage of Math­e­mat­ics and Young Ein­stein and the story of E=mc2.

CATHAL O’CON­NELL

Cathal is a sci­ence writer, with a back­ground in physics, who is based in Mel­bourne. He is also a re­searcher at St Vin­cent’s Hos­pi­tal where he is de­vel­op­ing tech­nol­ogy to 3-D print body parts. Through sci­ence writ­ing he gives voice to an in­ner child still ob­sessed with space, rel­a­tiv­ity and quan­tum me­chan­ics.

JEF­FREY D. PHILLIPS

An award-win­ning Mel­bourne-based il­lus­tra­tor, Jef­frey is known for his brand of quirky pen and ink draw­ings. Be­sides ed­i­to­rial work he also art di­rects, draws sto­ry­boards for film and TV and il­lus­trates live at events if re­quired. He re­stricts him­self to two cups of cof­fee a day and plans his en­tire sched­ule around when and where these may be con­sumed for max­i­mum ef­fect.
